Coming from a treo, am missing the following:
- chat mode in sms. I tried some chat applications but they dont work the same
- ability to cut and paste anywhere. Anything highlighted in a treo may be cut/copied. Like if you want to copy something from a webpage, you cant
- things copied to the clipboard arent always pasted.
- recent sms recipient list
- i use datebk6 in the treo so i find the calendar application of the e61 very limited. For 1 you cant set categories for each entry to differntiate schedules.
- lack of available symbols.
- limited options per application. Like in sms, there are only 2 options in terms of display.
- reminder app for missed calls or unread messages - motorola had this integrated years ago

there's a lot more. But its still a powerful tool. I use it for connectivity, something treo should improve on.

Basic improvements to alerting:

- Vibrate then ring - would vibrate for a few seconds and then ring if not answered
- Ascending ring doesn't ascen loud enough fast enough. it takes 15-20 seconds to reach a lound volume.
- When your answer a call and you're in another app there's no context menu for the call. If you want to switch to speakerphone, you have to exit the app to go back to the standby screen to access the call options.

e61 lacks:
(1) Built in PDF reader like 6681 (needs to be separately installed)
(2) nice d-pad; joystick is irritating on the thumb and makes playing games a pain
(3) nice video/movie player

.. more too...

but all in all, e61 is a great gizmo... I love it!!!

Radio -- Use Podcast availiable from Nokia web site.
This allows you to download a radio program and listen to it when you have time, but you have to buy a large memory card

Needs predictive text / spellcheck.
DAB radio please!
Should be able to transfer the sat-nav app to a larger memory card.
Should have a carry case that does not accidently depress keys. Maybe the case should shutdown the keyboard.

I'm with Irix - for the intended use (business) - this phone is light years ahead of the competition, save for maybe blackberry. A scroll wheel *would* have been nice, and I agree that the little joystick is a bit cumbersome.

Take this phone, add in your FM radio, your scroll wheel, and a camera, and my guess is the size would no longer be so appealing. Just a guess.

FM radio would be good...but however, ppl who need it on the E61 can use headsets that have built in FM radio..

I dont need a camera cos its not allowed at my workplace...

The A2DP feature that allows stereo music on stereo bluetooth headphones....is missing here.... a shame on a phone that pumps out quality music when connected through wired headphones...

I think if this feature is enabled in the next firmware then Nokia HS-12W would make a gr8 pair with Nokia E61

I my opinon there is no more features needed for standard software. As a business phone I don't see using the camera or radio at all.
Its the perfect phone for the business world, and it was meant to be like that.

Regards from Denmark
