  2. Any idea if this works with branded E61s? I’ve got a T-Mobile E61.
Also, any news on improvements for Voip? Is STUN supported now? How about codec priority?

  3. i think it’s for unbranded only.
but you can check if updater says that there is new firmware version or not.

beware, it seems that update kills E70…

  4. did mine, works fine (E61)
read the faq, seems to suggest that branded and unbranded phones are both covered.

  5. Two questions, please help:

1)How do I back up my phone’s memory on to the flash card? will this back up also include contacts, calendars and other settings?

2)has anyone had problems after the install of the new update? what are the pros/cons?

    Thanks for your help.

  6. Has anybody had problems with the sound from the music player after installing the new firmware? I now have this weird bug: when a new song starts, the bass is all gone. It only comes back if I turn the volume up/down. Ideas?

  7. I got some serious problems with the lock code after upgrade.

When I try to change the lock code I get first asked to input my current
then it accepts my current lock code and then asks me for the new one I put it in two times as asked and get “Code Error”.

If I try to disable Auto Lock I get “Code Error”

So every morning my phone is locked and I have to pull the batt and reset the phone :(

So you should probably make sure you have not activated the lock code before you upgrade.

  8. 2tone, try 12345 as the lock code. The code was probably set to default after the new firmware install.

  10. Does anyone have any idea what this update actually does? Are there any new features or major bugs that are fixed? It is not clear to me what’s in the update and thus I am not sure whether I want to go to the trouble of doing it, with the potential of breaking my phone (all those warnings from Nokia scare me.)

  12. I recently updated the firmware of my E61. But actually I haven’t installed the SMS accelerator released in the Nokia website.
Does anybody know if it is still necessary to install the SMS accelerator after I updated the firmware? As I heard that the new firmware also solves the SMS problem (is that true?).

  13. I can not update as every start of updating process disconnects USB connection to E61 (PC Suite mode) and after a few seconds Update software say “there is no phone” :(
    Any hint?

  14. How can do the update from a Mac computer? Is there any other way to do this rather using a Windows PC?

    Thanks in advance!

My problem is similar to yours. I’ve updated my phone and it gave me an installation error. The new firm ware was installed even though the memory is still in tack. I can change my code lock but the code dont work when the phone locks up. I would have to remove the battery to get it working again.Anyone know how to fix this?

  16. I downloaded and installed and Nokia software updater and it says that I have the lastest version of the software. However I still find my phone to be very unstable. Some people on this web site (http://thefonedoc.wordpress.com/2006/08/18/firmware-upgrade/) talk about version 2.06 of the firmware. Is that what you guys have got?

  17. Is it possible to update the firmware using bluetooth connection.

  18. I updated my E61 to the lastest 2 days ago.
    It borke SIP.
The connection to AccessPoint doesn’t hold, for web browsing it is fine
but after that, the connection goes away so SIP doesnt’ get a chance to register.

  19. I update my e61 today, in windows 2000. My phone goes faster and wifi found more access points. Everything goes OK

Art | 12:08 pm on the 11th of September, 2006

  20. After upgrading the firmware on my E61 I cannot remove old access points. I have a bunch of “old” access points from New England (USA) and Switzerland as well as from my home country (another one in Europe) and the E61 tells me that I cannot do what I want since the memory is full. What memory is full? The available memory is plenty both on the phone and the 2Gb extra memory stick. Is it the RAM that is to small? What is it anyway? No information is available in the instruction manaual. I have around 1500 e-mails in the inbox - is this related to the problem?

    WHY?

pinoyblend | 8:04 am on the 11th of September, 2006

  23. I Plug in my E61 on the USB… start the update software but it sits… with “Initializing Software” message… nothing else happens.

I have disabled all firewall and other protection software. Nothing happens!

I’m able to run the Nokia PC Suite without any problems.

    Please help!

    Thanks

  24. Hello, I’m an E61 user on the t-mobile network and am pretty overwhelmed with the complexity of this phone … I was a previous treo 650 user. Couple of questions:
    - I can’t seem to be able to view MS Word, Excell files attached to e-mails. It just comes up as giggerish.
    - How do I Install zip file downloads ?
    Thanks

  25. I’m trying to get Good up and running on my E61. I moved my SIM over from my Treo and both the phone and internet connects are working fine. I can successfully download OTA. When I launch it for set up, I enter my email and Good PIN, it runs for a while and then I get the message “Provisioning data is corrupted. Retry or contact your IT administrator before trying again.”

I have tried several things – wiping and reloading OTA, checking the settings, etc. I called our IT Helpdesk and they’re suggestion doing a hard reset on the phone. I can’t figure out how. That brings me to this post…

    1) How do I do a hard reset on the E61?
    2) Have any of you Good people run into this provisioning difficulty? If so, what should I do?

Any help would be appreciated. I really don’t want to go back to the Treo.

He reset my GL account on the server, re-sent the PIN message and all is well

  28. I need help!!!!!!!!I was half way done with the firmware update to my e61 then the data cable disconnected my e61 from the computer. Now my phone wont turn back on even after I taken the battery out and replaced it…..Has anyone brought their e61 back from the dead?????

Juice | 2:13 pm on the 11th of September, 2006

  29. To check your current firmware simply “dial” *#0000# and the firmware version will be shown. I’ve updated my E61 with 3.0633.09.04 20/11/06 firmware and the SIP client is working very well behind NAT with my asterisk Server (which in turns have a public IP). I could not find where to set VTUN server, BTW. OTOH, the nasty bug when you have to use blue key to input numbers on a number only input field is still present (on this and the older update). Also, when you numlock (double blue key) the dot is not available, so it is a PITA to input an IP address with this firmware… Other than that, I am pretty satisfied with this device. Cheers from Brazil

  30. I have had the same trouble as Juice! My phone will not turn on no matter what. Only the mail light is on and there is nothing else I can do!

  31. Broke my e61 as well. Now phone won’t boot. Worked immediately after upgrade, and used e61 to listen to podcasts no problem for about 24 hours. When I first reset the device (after trying to get WLAN work) phone never rebooted.

  33. Hope someone can help me with this. I backed up my data onto my memory card in my e61. The memory card shows that it 40MB is occupied and only 10MB free. Now when I try to restore the backed up content onto my phone I get an error message that the memory card is full. When I try to look at what is on the memory card I’m not able ot see any files, contacts, agenda items, etc… nothing - I can still see though that the memory card is almost full. Where did all my content go???
