hi,

new to this e61 /blackberry world. hutch says its not possible to offer me a web sevice as e61 is not approved for invidual use(only enterprise). is their any other way i can get my push mail.

i’ve used symbian 60 since a nokia 3650 when it was first released and overall am very happy with the system.

however after recently getting an e61 i was glad to see a text editor and a spreadsheet had been added as standard.  something my psion had back in 94 has now made it to the phone world.  i have only one question.  did anybody in nokia try these before releasing them?

text editor

• i have created 3-4 files on the phone and of these 2 went corrupt and refused to be opened again.  using internal and external memory made no difference.
• the text editor has 2 formats doc and txt.  all i can say is txt is as no txt file i have ever seen before as it appears to be unicode with 2 bytes per character and unreadable in any other format without some radical conversion.
• i was hoping to use the editor to write simple html (.htm, .html) and python files (.py) but these cannot be opened as they are hidden from the file browser with no way to change the extensions of files listed.

spreadsheet

• when i copy a formula to a cell, it doesn’t change the values of the location.  this has to be done manually.  normally if you copy a formula into the row below it’s current location it changes the row.
• you cannot copy a formula to a range of cells.

i have checked to see if my phone was running am old firmware but it says that it’s up to date.

I’ve read all these great comments on how isync can help you sync contacts/tasks/calendar with the Nokia E61. But there’s nothing out there that shows how to sync notes from Entourage to the E61.

I have an E61 which sync’d perfectly first time and since then hasnt sync’d once. I have checked all the settings and recreated the profile umpteen times as well as upgrading ‘mail for exchange’ from v1.02 to v1.03.

None of this helps. But it gets weirder.

The first time the machine sync’d it was using 3G portal (the WAP portal) which Nokia tells me is impossible. Well, the machine’s internet portal works for surfing but just freezes now when i try to sync.

Also weird is that of the 3 machines in the office so far, one works perfectly while mine and another show the same type of error. Both our SP and Nokia are stumped.

Any ideas? We are really spending hours on this and i’d like to explore all options before we simply downgrade.

1) I was told by Nokia Support that the voice tags for the names in contact list “are device generated and cannot be changed” …… is this true? i have been trying for 2 hours. getting nowhere.

2) Can i edit the voice tags in contacts list? Record my own voice for each name?

Has anyone figured out how to dial phone numbers with text (e.g. 1-800-9ETRADE would be 1-800 937 7233)  I am trying to figure out how to do this.  Your help would be greatly appreciated

Every other time I pick up my phone, I manage to press the voice key on the side which starts the recorder - net result is a bunch of useless recordings on my phone. Is there any way to disable this button or change its function?

I have the following problem: Outlook was sync’ing just fine with my E61, then one day the synchronization failed, the error message was simply that it had failed at record 60 of 168 (or some such thing). I’m guessing there’s something in the calendar item 60 that the sync or E61 can’t deal with.

Any ideas on how to clear this out? Or how to find out what record 60 is - the synchronization log is particularly unhelpful in this respect.

I get the following message:

“Unable to connect. Check conn. settings of . Header retrieval disabled.”

This happens several times per day, and I have to go into the settings and reenable the feature. Can this be stopped?

I am currenly using POP through my e62.

I having a real pain in the behind problem with themes on my E61. For some reason, everytime I install a new theme, I loose some of the themes installed on the phone. I cant even reinstall them. I can find them anywhere on the app manager to uninstall them as well. Is anyone else having the same problem?
