hello,
Did u actually manage to unlock Nokia E61 ???
Did it work with other network ???
Please advice ? ?? ?
From what I’ve been able to find out, it is not yet possible to unlock Nokia E61 phones. I jsut purchased one on Ebay and its locked with Planet 3 and I’m unable to use it. You can alter the firmware so that it no longer displays that company info, but that doesn’t unlock the phone.
Does anyone know when or even IF Nokia codes will be available for it? There is a company that can apparently do it in the US for about $100, which seems like a rip off. Would be great if there was some hope so that i dont have to resell it.
Titian Blue | 10:12 am on the 2nd of March, 2007
I have both uploaded ‘new’ firmware (was first impossible) and also unlocked my phone, buying an unlock code (68 euro) from my vendor.
So basically: yes you can. Both SIM as SP unlocks are possible.

this is killing me. brand new e61, locked and i can’t do anything but look at it. (locked to t-mobile)
has there been any advancement on unlocking an e61? i’ve seen a few places asking $150 for unlocking, but can it be that bad?

Hi there.
Hi can not unlock my Nokia E61. I set the lock code using english letters. And now all of suddenly it appears in arabic. I tried to insert the code, but it shows arabic letters instead of english and the phone is not unlocked. Any one knows what to do?
Emil K | 4:03 am on the 2nd of March, 2007
Try hitting the Shift (Up Arrow) and Chr keys to open the Writing language selection….
tphank | 12:18 pm on the 2nd of March, 2007
You can unlock the mobile just asking for a code off the network is locked onto. T-mobile charge £15 and you don’t need to have a contract or pay as you go sim. The same for Orange o2 and vodafone which I think might charge about £20. The only one I am not sure is three.
O Foz | 8:19 am on the 2nd of March, 2007
I have checked with 3 (Three) and officially they do not provide unlock codes. They say the phone can’t be unlocked, which sounds like cr@p based on the posts above.
I have flashed firmware and gotten rid off all the 3 software, but it is still locked to 3.
SJ | 3:26 am on the 2nd of March, 2007
Hi, I bought an e61 locked to 3 from a reseller on eBay. I contacted 3 who said they would unlock it for £15 but need to speak to the original owner to have this done! The reseller bought the handset as part of a bulk purchase and doesn’t have details. 3 said, and I quote “we that’s tough then isn’t it, you will have to get a 3 sim card!”
I work in the telecoms industry in the UK. They are in breach of telecoms regulation governed by OFCOM as they cannot force me to take service with them and cannot keep the phone locked to their network as I am under no contract with them, therefore no obligation to take service from them. You all need to lodge a formal complaint with them and threaten to take your complaint to their independant ajudicator AND OFCOM. They will buckle!
everyone seems to be talking about the e61, what about the e62.I have it and can’t unlock it.I’m just looking at it….any luck?I don’t care how much it costs…please send me an email, anybody with the right info.. stan_lee@justice.com.
thanks in advance.

I think Wesley is joking. I spend a lot of time to find a solution to unlock the E61 locked to “3″ in Austria and I found nothing which works.
Also all of the company’s who offer unlock service told me, it is nearly impossible to this at the moment (06.2007)
So If you also bought a locket phone at ebay, enjoy watching it but for phoning use a 2nd one

I have an E61 locked to Three.. I have spoken to them and had the following reply. The phone can be unlocked for the sum of £20 as long as it is out of contract. Failing that I would need to pay the contact up and then pay £20 to have it unlocked. As Three are a UK company but all you ever get is Indian call cencre you will never get a good response as they are only answering questions that they have a standard answer for.
It would be nice if I could talk to someone at Hutchingsons in the UK and get a proper response.
Also if you check,it is not illegal to unlock any phone fom any network as long as you still pay for the service package you signed for. IE. if you signed for a £20 a month package with )2 and want to use the phone with Vodaphone it is perfectly acceptable provided you continue to pay O2at the agreed monthly rate.

Just take it along to a local dealer, phone Planet 3, or what??!! (I’ve only just picked it up and was most disappointed to see that it wouldn’t recognise my O2 sim card!)

Im trying to unlock my Nokia N73 locked to Planet 3 in Australia. the moment I put in a SIM card from any other network, a screen comes up on the phone which says SIM card not valid. I cant exit out of the screen when this happens, even hitting any and all of the buttons. I can still punch numbers into the keypad, and even do the NOKIA *#0000# function, which still works bringing up the current software version. Other than that, i cant get the software updater to recognize the phone with any SIM card in. Without one, the functions of the phone work fine (except the calling of course), and the software updater and flash software are able to establish contact with the phone. Any idea how to get around this? NOKIA N73 phone…thanks.
I dont believe you can unlock E61s yet.
