Im trying to unlock my Nokia N73 locked to Planet 3 in Australia. the moment I put in a SIM card from any other network, a screen comes up on the phone which says SIM card not valid. I cant exit out of the screen when this happens, even hitting any and all of the buttons. I can still punch numbers into the keypad, and even do the NOKIA *#0000# function, which still works bringing up the current software version. Other than that, i cant get the software updater to recognize the phone with any SIM card in. Without one, the functions of the phone work fine (except the calling of course), and the software updater and flash software are able to establish contact with the phone. Any idea how to get around this? NOKIA N73 phone...thanks.

Hi
Have you managed to unlock your phone? Do you live in the UK?

I have a Nokia N73 given to me - the contract with this phone was with Planet 3 (UK). How do I unlock the phone so that I can use it for my 02 monthly contract? Just take it along to a local dealer, phone Planet 3, or what??!! (I've only just picked it up and was most disappointed to see that it wouldn't recognise my O2 sim card!)
Such is life!

I have an E61 locked to Three.. I have spoken to them and had the following reply. The phone can be unlocked for the sum of £20 as long as it is out of contract. Failing that I would need to pay the contact up and then pay £20 to have it unlocked. As Three are a UK company but all you ever get is Indian call cencre you will never get a good response as they are only answering questions that they have a standard answer for.
It would be nice if I could talk to someone at Hutchingsons in the UK and get a proper response.
Also if you check,it is not illegal to unlock any phone fom any network as long as you still pay for the service package you signed for. IE. if you signed for a £20 a month package with )2 and want to use the phone with Vodaphone it is perfectly acceptable provided you continue to pay O2at the agreed monthly rate.
