Can you guide me on settings of Nokia E61 for a GPRS activated Airtel connection. I use Rediffmail & Gmail.
Currently I am logging on individual page then entering mail id, password... a long process. An option of direct mail exists but cant use.

Use Gmail and forward your POP3 mails. Gmail client for E61 is nice. It is Free and you can set up a mail alias in Gmail so replies will appear as if they come from your POP3 id.

Push mail enslaves. I use Gmail on my E61 and it is just great. I forwarded my mails from POP3 to Gmail. Gmail allows you to create aliases, so even if you reply from your phone it would appear as if you sent it from your POP3 id.

For the record, you can get Blackberry on Hutch for Rs.1099 a month on the E61, it is for individuals.

Stick with Gmail !

Kartik. On a recent trip to India, I bought prepaid service from AirTel, and called in to register for Internet Service. This service cost me Rs 7 extra every day, and I also had to fulfil the condition of maintaining a minimum balance of Rs 50 in my prepaid account. I was able to check my email, and surf the web in Mumbai, Pune, Trivandrum and Cochin, all the places I visited. It was just terrific to be able to use my E61 in India like this. Good luck!
Hutch has also tied up with RIM and they are offering blackberry services. Slightly costlier than Airtel.

Blackberry as a service is mainly for those who access their corporate email which is ussually an Exchange server or Lotus Notes and as part of their IT policy do not allow Pop3 or IMAP client access.

It works perfect and we have been using from the day it was launched by Airtel.
