Interestingly enough, looking at the IMAP log, I see that the phone establishes a connection, lists contents of the Inbox and then replies with a failure notice. After trying a number of things like a soft reset and monkeying with settings, found that recreating my email account is the quickest way to resolve. Takes about a minute to create a new account, delete the old one, subscribe to folders, have the phone connect, get the messages (I have it retrieving the last 30) and then keeps working dutifully for a few weeks until I have to spend another minute to fix it. Not that big a deal, but it's an annoying bug nonetheless. Nokia needs to fix this if they want to compete with the BlackBerry (I used to use BlackBerrys, but switched because BlackBerry is a one trick pony and I want my phone to do turn-by-turn directions and run other apps). If it loses GPRS coverage for a bit, the GPRS indicator flag drops which causes the header diabled issue as well as having to power cycle the phone to get GPRS services back. I can't deal with this anymore. I've played with the GPRS/packet settings from "when needed" to "always available" but it still does not force the phone to lock the GPRS flag on. Once it goes down.. it's down for the count. So is this phone....A JASAM/Tytn and Ipaq 6900 series work perfect with the same sim in the same spot on my window.
