Goodlink on E61

Hi,

I am using the Goodlink service on the E61 to check and reply to my mails and I must say that it is fantastic. It also helps me to synchronize my calendar, tasks, etc..

However, there is also a catch in that only the Build 46 of the Goodlink software works on the E61 properly.

My question here is that how to backup the phone memory to the memory card.. I could see that only the contacts can be copied, what about the others??

I am trying to upgrade the firmware but need to make sure that my goodlink service does not go off after this exercise..

  1. What is the “Goodlink Service” — you didn’t provide a link!

  2. Latest official version of GMM is 55. If you upgrade the ROM and use OTA installation again, all your GMM data will be re-syncronized.

  3. I’m using Goodlink as well on my E61 and it works great. I’ve also updated the firmware to the 2.0618.06.05 and it’s still working like a dream.

The site for Good is http://www.good.com.

  4. I didn’t need to OTA after the firmware upgrade. Just restarted the phone and it just started working as if nothing changed. :)

  5. So CJ you didn’t have to backup/restore any of your files for the firmware update?? You did the FW update and then it all worked,
if thats what you mean I’m happily surprised!

  6. Oh, dangit… Now I remember that I did have to re-OTA the device. If you still have your PIN, it’ll reload after you go to https://get.good.com and download the “stub app”. After you put in your email address and PIN, it’ll download the client software, and resync all your Outlook contacts, Notes, Tasks, and last 100 email messages in your Inbox.

Sorry, I completly forgot about that part of the process. It was the easiest restoral on the device… I didn’t try to restore from the backup I took to the PC before I did the flash upgrade.

I’m still trying to get the rest of my applications back onto the device.

  7. Can we see some screenshots?

Does it integrate with the existing mail, like Seven AlwaysOnMail, or is it a totally separate app like Blackberry Connect and Consilient Push?

Does it support sending from multiple accounts?

  8. It’s an additional app with its own UI and looks like earlier releases on WM and Palm. It has a lot of integration points, including contacts integration so caller ID works when contact is in GMM, etc. There are some screen shots at http://www.good.com for E61/E62 with GMM on it.

  9. I am also running Goodlink on my E61 and it is excellent. My phone has down rev firmware, but there are only a few issues with GL. I can’t upgrade the firmware on the E61 yet, since I’m Mac based (thankfully, I don’t own a PC), and Parallels doesn’t yet work with the USB connection.

  11. Hi,

goodlink and e61 does not work well together at all.
The contacts and calendars are separate and the cut and paste functions do not interwork.
Is there going to be a new version of Goodlink that is better integrated with e61?
how do i find out if my version of gd installed is 44 or 55?

    thx

    Regards
