Comments on: e61 continuously reboots in certain environments

I have a similar problem with my E70, I don’t know whether it is WLAN related or not, but the phone reboots several times each day, at any times, day and night.

I have installed a little application that leaves a log message at eash reboot, and yes it really does.

This is really annoying me, since it means that I can’t use the phone for running applications like GPS navigation etc

I have the same problem. Just bought an e61, upgraded the firmware, tried it on a T-Mobile Hotspot (I have a subscription and a hotspot near where I live). Phone will attempt to connect to this hotspot and then will “white screen”. Happens with any app on the phone when trying to access the internet using wifi and this T-mobile hot spot. Seems to work fine using non-T-Mobile access points.

I have that problem trying to go into voip mode on wifi nets when using smart roaming. It is a great program, but I think it needs a bug fix release.

Same thing happen to me in T mobile hot spots in the Chicago airport, it was very frustrating, otherwise no problem.

Same problem with original nokia e61 in Amsterdam airport. Only happened in that environment and when manually accessing their wifi system (ie i didn’t have any smart roaming so i suspect its not a smart roaming feature but something in how that wifi configuration. works fine in other places for me…including after the firmware upgrade.

I don’t use SmartRoaming.

Nor do I have my E70 constantly search for hotspots.

But often at airports (when I’m waiting and bored) I will do a scan for open access points and sometimes find ones that will cause my phone to reboot.

Are all the folks who experience this problem using SmartRoaming? I’m not sure if it is related to that or intrinsic to how the e61 manages connections. I am having an online dialog with the Birdstep (SmartRoaming) support team and I’d like to provide more information to them.

Mee too, especially when I have now tried to configure and register my intenert phone settings, I noticed that:
-when the e61 treis to connect to the service it reboots almost every time
-AND it there are more than one WLAN’s in the same are, the reboot happens always…

Quite annoying…

My own MAC filtered WLAn access works mostly OK.

I encountered the same problem at the Istanbul Airport when the phone was trying to connect to a hotspot. That was with the old firmware. But since then I had no problem at home, shopping malls etc.

I occasionally have had this problem at Starbuck’s HotSpots, and this is before a firmware update
(because I don’t really need it, at least not yet. My E61 works really really well with original firmware)
