(Not a reply, but I have a calendar question and can't find where to start a new thread - if anywhere.)
I've set a note for Oct 1 2008, but since Oct 1 2007 it appears on the home screen. How can I get the E61 to understand the difference between 2007 & 2008?

You can try out Papyrus. I've just released version 1.2.11 and it supported importing birthdays from contacts since version 1.2.10 ... You should give it a go:

If you've got it in their contact information, when you sync to Outlook, it should add those birthdays to your calendar as separate events, and then you can just sync your phone. Least that worked for me.

Though I also don't think it'll show them until the day of, but that's as good as I've seen.
